TORONTO Beef Farmers of Ontario members passed 21 resolutions at their annual meeting last month. The board will make the final decision on each resolution. Here are four of them: Lobby the province to increase the Ontario feeder cattle loan guarantee program from $130 million to $250 million. Lobby to increase the producer loan limits under the feeder cattle loan guarantee program from $250,000 to $500,000. Lobby all governments for funding to enable producers to fence marginal land that would be suitable for pasturing beef animals, thereby allowing producers to raise a larger number of beef animals. Lobby the province to provide external or line fence financial assistance to livestock producers or amend the Line Fences Act to make construction and maintenance of line fences a mandatory 50-50 split. |
