EAU CLAIRE — As the United States battles to bring an end to Canada’s supply management system, at least one state wants to adopt supply management.
Dairy Farmers of Ontario chair Ralph Dietrich and vice-president Murray Sherk were invited down to Eau Claire, Wis. last month to speak to more than 100 dairy farmers about supply management.
“You don’t fill a room like this when things are going good on the farm,” said Wisconsin Farmers Union President Darin Von Ruden on an online blog post after the event.
An end to Canada’s milk system is still a target for the United States in NAFTA negotiations.
