SPENCERVILLE — It was only her third time out since Matt Enright spied Glengarry Atwood Anne at a Kingsway Farms tag sale this spring, but her udder was in show-winning form.
“She’s a pretty big cow with a nice udder. She’s got a lot of dairy strength. That’s her in a nutshell,” says the Winchester dairy farmer about the five-year-old grand champion at the Leeds-Grenville-Dundas Tri-County Show on Aug. 20 in Spencerville.
With her pedigree and udder, scooping her up from the Hastings farm was a no-brainer, says Enright, who runs Winright Holsteins with his father, Brian and his girlfriend, Erica Neville.
“We have many Atwoods in the barn. He produces stylish show animals,” adds Neville.
Anne is well-balanced and extremely correct with an exceptional mammary system that catches everyone’s attention, says judge Carl Phoenix.
“Look at that rear udder: it’s just boom, full all the way to the top. It’s perfect. She was a convincing grand champion,” says the Sunderland dairy farmer, who runs Phoenixholm Holsteins with his wife, Kera.
