ALMA — A beef cow sold for $17,000 at the Speckle Park Top Ten Sale June 14 at Alma, about 30 minutes northwest of Guelph.
Steele Dramatic 4D was purchased by Jeremy Damen at Stratford. A second cow, Underhill Friday Night 12D, sold for $16,500 to INC Cattle CO in Saskatchewan and Panorama Farms Speckle Park in Australia.
The 11 lots averaged $11,404, an Ontario record for the breed. An embryo package that sold for $2,050 was also an Ontario record for the breed.
The Speckle Park breed originated in Saskatchewan in the early 1960s and is a combination of three breeds from England and Scotland.
