PETROLIA — A 78-year-old Lambton County farmer was killed March 9 after falling into a storage bin.
David John Brand, who farms near Petrolia at Enniskillen Township was loading a transport truck full of soybeans when he fell into a grain bin. Petrolia OPP were unable to say the cause of death.
The Ministry of Labour was contacted but is not investigating, as it has no jurisdiction as it involves the owner of the farm, said spokesperson Janet Deline.
Brand “passed away suddenly, doing what he loved,” according to an online obituary.
He is survived by his wife, Catharine, of 51 years, and their 6 children and 6 grandchildren.
