ONTARIO — Milk will be produced in Ontario and Canada with a “net zero” carbon footprint by 2050, according to the Dairy Farmers of Canada (DFC) and Dairy Farmers of Ontario (DFO). DFC’s pledge, which is supported by DF0, is explained in a YouTube video released earlier this month.
DFC announced the net zero commitment in February, and DFO has been touting the same goal on social media.
Farm emissions will be cut through outright reductions, greenhouse-gas “removal offsets,” and “other strategies” like “qualitative targets related to soil and land, water, biodiversity, waste and energy,” according to DFC.
