OTTAWA — The Trudeau government never asked Canada’s Chief Science Advisor Dr. Mona Nemer if a planned 30% cut in farm fertilizer emissions would reduce Canadian food production. The startling fact came out Feb. 2 as Manitoba MP Dan Mazier questioned Nemer at the Standing Committee on Science and Research.
“Has the government asked you to produce any scientific reports or advice on the impact that reducing fertilizer emissions by 30% would have on Canada’s food production?” Mazier (CON — Dauphin-Swan River-Neepawa) asked the country’s Chief Science Advisor.
“The short answer is no, not on that particular topic,” Nemer replied.
