The Eastern Ontario Health Unit, which covers Stormont-Dundas-Glengarry, Prescott-Russell and the City of Cornwall, confirmed its second case of covid-19 (the condition caused by the novel coronavirus) on March 18.
A man in his 60s from Prescott-Russell was confirmed to have the condition. Had returned from a trip to the United Kingdom about a week earlier.
The Health Unit said that there is currently no evidence of community transmission of the coronavirus (meaning it’s not moving between members of the community).
As of March 19, there were 846 cases of coronavirus confirmed in Canada of which 258 were in Ontario, according to the Public Health Agency of Canada. There have been two confirmed deaths related to the coronavirus in Ontario as of March 20 and 10 in Canada.
