RUSSELL — The ever-popular toy tractor auction and collector toy tractor sale, a mainstay of the Ottawa Valley Farm Show, has gone its own way this year.
Vintage Irons and Traditions of Eastern Ontario has for the past five years offered up a number one model tractor for sale at the farm show’s auction, to raise money for the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario. This year’s model tractor is a miniature Minneapolis Moline U, a 50 horsepower tractor produced from 1953 to 1955.
But with the cancellation not only of this year’s farm show but also of the 2021 show, the group has had to pivot, and they’ve had help from the community in doing that. Stewart James Auction out of Russell has offered up its services to auction the tractor, alongside another 100 or so toys of various kinds, in an online auction.
Bidding opens at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 22 and soft-closes on Friday, Nov. 27 at 5 p.m. Pickup will be on Saturday Nov. 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at M&R Feeds and Farm Supply in Arnprior.
The tractor club also has a limited quantity of miniature models you can purchase for $100 each. Contact Daryle Payne at merch@vintageiron.ca.
