OTTAWA — Ontario’s total net farm income was a record $1.51 billion in 2017, according to numbers released by Statistics Canada in May.
That’s up from $1.27 billion in 2016, and tops the previous record of $1.34 billion set in 2011.
However, operating expenses were also on the rise, reaching a record $10.56 billion in 2017, up from $10.27 billion in 2016.
StatCan reports that total cash receipts were down slightly from a record $13.16 billion in 2016 to $13.12 billion in 2017. That makes last year the second-best year for cash receipts.
