OTTAWA — Thousands of Canadians marched on Sept. 20 in opposition to gender ideology taught in the classrooms.
The 1 Million March 4 Children included 102 cities and towns across Canada.
The Ottawa march included as many as 8,000 people. Protestors voiced their opposition to school indoctrination programs on sex education that includes gender ideology, made-up pronouns and mixed bathrooms in schools. The protestors also argued that teenagers should not be encouraged to embrace gender altering medical procedures that would scar them for life.
Protestors in Ottawa largely consisted of young families and Muslims, but also a small group of Mennonites, farmers and university-aged students. Dozens of police officers lined Wellington Street to keep the protestors on Parliament Hill as a small group of union-supported pro-LGBTQ anti-protestors gathered on the south side of the street. That group included NDP leader Jagmet Singh melted away by the time the march began.
The peaceful march included a multitude of signs, ranging from “Leave Our Kids alone” and “Education not Indoctrination” to “Democracy not dictatorship” and “Let boys be boys and girls be girls.”
Marchers chanted “Leave our kids alone” and “Silent no more.”
The marches were initiated by a group of concerned Muslim parents and much of the planning was organized by a Muslim group called Hands off our Kids. The groups boasted of marches that were to be held in 33 Ontario cities and towns.
