The number of farm employees in Canada has dropped slightly.
The number of employees working at Canadian farms stood at 278,762 in 2020, down 0.3% from 2019, according to Statistics Canada.
More than half of all agricultural employees were seasonal in 2020. The greenhouse, nursery and floriculture production industry hired the most seasonal employees, accounting for 21.7% of all seasonal employees.
Canada’s dairy farmers employed 31,722 in 2020, a drop from 31,104 in 2016.
