BOWMANVILLE A sheep farmer who was responsible for the All Canada Classic the first national sheep sale will be posthumously inducted into the Ontario Agricultural Hall of Fame in June. Bowmanvilles Russell Dow, who died in 2010, was the owner of Dow Downs Farm, where he raised purebred Oxford and Leicester sheep. He also operated Dow Downs Sales to market breeding stock across Canada, and co-owned Le Do Sheep Company as a source of breeding stock for Ontario producers. Dow was president of the Canadian Sheep Breeders Association of Canada and was on the board of the Ontario Sheep Marketing Agency. He will be inducted into the hall of fame in Milton on June 14. |
