WOODSTOCK — Case IH has revived its rare “Black Knight” painted tractor in an extremely limited edition of its Magnum 310 model, the company’s most popular-selling tractor.
One out of only 12 made for North America and the only one in Eastern Canada was displayed at Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show in Woodstock last month, alongside a vintage 1969 Black Knight.
Only a very select breed of Case-loving farmers will be offered the chance to buy a new Black Knight featuring factory black paint with gold highlights instead of the usual Case red. Inspiration comes from the specially coloured “demonstrator” Case models that rolled out in 1969 and into the 1970s.
Because of their rarity, those original machines were highly prized by collectors.
Case enthusiast Orville Couture near Chatham, bought the one at Woodstock, said a dealer rep who added that they fielded no less than 20 purchase offers in the tractor’s first hour at the show.
