STOUFFVILLE — Premier Equipment, a multi-store John Deere dealership serving Southwestern Ontario, is set to buy Stouffville-based Hutchinson Farm Supply effective Jan. 31, 2025.
Hutchinson Farm Supply celebrated 60 years of business in 2024, serving agricultural and rural property owners in the northern and western parts of York and Durham regions.
Terms of the deal transferring ownership to Premier Equipment have not been disclosed. It’s Premier’s first acquisition since the chain’s 2011 formation.
“It has been a pleasure providing John Deere equipment and service to our customers for so many years,” said Hutchinson general manager and owner Bob Armstrong, who purchased the dealership from founder Keith Hutchinson in 1986.
Armstrong is retiring as part of the transaction. “I am very thankful for my staff, proud of the business, and grateful for the opportunities we’ve had to support farmers and the community. I have a lot of respect and appreciation for the team at Premier, and I am excited for what the future holds for our team and the customers we serve,” he said.
“We intend to build on the foundation of service and dedication that Bob and his team have established over the last 60 years,” Premier Equipment president Allan Dueck said. “We look forward to the opportunity to share resources and the potential for growth that being part of a larger dealership brings for staff and customers.”
Subject to final due diligence, Premier will assume Hutchinson’s operations with existing staff and facilities on Feb. 3, 2025.
