According to the political pundits the new federal Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre is either a breath of fresh air, a fire-breathing dragon or something in between. What he is not is barely breathing. He is a man on a mission, full of pep and ideas and with an answer for almost everything.
How the average Joe sees a man can sometimes be more illuminating, fascinating and fun. So, here’s a smattering of online comments about Poilievre and Prime Minister Trudeau from readers of the Globe and Mail and National Post.

“Finally, a Pierre worth voting for.”
— Bruce Stanley (National Post)

“Canada needs Poilievre. We need a prime minister to clean up the toxic, woke, gender and pronoun obsessed mess the Trudeau government has left. The Trudeau government has failed on EVERY file. I challenge anyone to post one success. And even legalising dope doesn’t count, because the illegal stuff is still better quality, more readily available and cheaper.”
— Rob Angus (National Post)

“I know a lot of under 50s who are dead-set against what Pierre Poilievre represents as a leader for our country. They quite likely didn’t follow the Conservative leadership campaign but they still can recognize a politician that can’t speak about climate change, doesn’t value childcare programs and gives quick and glib solutions to challenges like housing and healthcare, and then there’s support for the Trucker Convoy group, not considered admirable by many younger citizens.”
— Judith M. (Globe and Mail)
—————–————————
“Young people are our hope for the future. Many of them see that Poilievre’s policies are the only hope for their future. The trendy woke policies of the Liberals don’t appeal to the younger generation that wants a prosperous economy and personal freedom. Unlike so many older Canadians who lap up the (mainstream media) propaganda, most younger people listen to alternative sources.”
— Guy Richards (National Post)

“So far PP has had a positive message and people are clearly liking it.”
— Walter Lantz (National Post)
“Trudeau’s not the best politician we’ve ever had, nor is he the best PM. We don’t seem to be breeding statespeople and heroes any more. But he’s benign to the maximum, compared to the viciousness, and corruption, of the thing that wants to replace him.”
— Spiderwoman13 (Globe and Mail)

“I’m hoping the hatred, disinformation, insults, irrational ramblings and mindless and immature comments directed at Mr. Poilievre, the Conservatives, and certain regions of Canada are limited to the Globe & Mail’s columnists and some of their subscribers. Because frankly, based on what I have been reading recently, there are some real crazies out there representing the left, or “progressives” as they prefer.”
— From Sea to Sea (Globe and Mail)

“So, Polly, will you please stick to the actual issues and challenges we face in this country? For starters what would you do as PM to deal with China? The Fentanyl crisis, the money laundering and foreign investors inflating our real estate prices so millennials in this country either born here or immigrated here can afford to buy a house? And their espionage which has successfully permeated our government and society unopposed?”
— Peters1956 (Globe and Mail)
—————–————————
“You can tell the left wing extremists in the media are scared. CBC, Star and G&M are each churning out anti-Poilievre hit pieces at the rate of several a day. They know that in Poilievre the Conservatives have a quick thinking, social media savvy, articulate leader who is an excellent communicator who will expand the base by pulling support from other parties who have failed the working class.”
— William Hall (National Post)

“Poilievre is serious. He does not want vainglorious socks. And thank the cosmos he will not tell the country just how deplorable and awful its history has been.”
— Doug McLeod (National Post)
