HALDIMAND COUNTY — Several animals died after a tractor trailer loaded with swine crashed into a Concession 4 ditch in Walpole.
A 54-year-old resident of Port Colborne was charged with Careless Driving in the July 26 incident that involved no other vehicles.
A section of Concession 4 was closed for about three hours while the rig was towed from the ditch. The driver was uninjured, though “several of the piglets were deceased as a result of the collision” occurring around 8:50 a.m., reports Haldimand County OPP.
