TORONTO — It’s been quite a year for Oakfield GC Darby-ET, capped off by being named reserve grand champion in the Black and White Holstein show at the Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto last month.
Darby, who is partly owned by Gerald Coughlin of Trent Valley Holsteins at Peterborough, Ont., was also named reserve grand champion at this year’s World Dairy Expo and grand champion at the Ontario Summer Show in August.
Coughlin told Farmers Forum in October that Darby was a modern-day kind of cow that “has no holes in her. She’s not a giant, she’s got a tremendous udder, good set of feet and legs, lot of dairy strength about her, angularity and dairyness.”
Here are some of the dairy winners with links to Eastern Ontario at this year’s Royal.
