OTTAWA — The 2022 Ottawa Valley Farm Show has been cancelled. It’s the third consecutive year that uncertainties arising from the pandemic have led organizers with the Ottawa Valley Seed Growers Association to pull the plug on the annual event held at the EY Centre.
The Association announced the Show’s cancellation Jan. 31 “with much sadness.” The 2022 edition had been scheduled for March 15-17.
“We will be reaching out to all exhibitors and partners over the coming weeks to confirm details and opportunities for the 2023 Ottawa Valley Farm Show to be held March 14 to 16, 2023 at the EY Centre,” the Association says.
Association President Jeff Waldroff said the decision was made Jan. 27 at the Board’s meeting that evening.
“I’m very sorry this is our third year without a farm show, but that’s the decision of the Board,” Waldroff told Farmers Forum. Waldroff added that he would never had thought it possible that three Farm Shows would be lost when the pandemic began.
2022 marks the Association’s 95th year in operation. It still plans a number of March activities including the 2022 Ottawa Valley Championship Seed, Feed and Forage Show and Awards Presentations, local county seed shows and the 30th annual Prestigious Pedigreed Seed Auction with proceeds to Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario. Watch later in the year for OVSGA scholarship opportunities, the annual photo contest and special projects at IPM22.
