Ottawa agricultural lawyer Don Good is recovering at home after suffering a heart attack in a Montreal airport in late June.
Good was walking through Dorval airport to catch a connecting flight home after a business trip in Winnipeg.
“About halfway between the two gates, I just collapsed,” said the 73-year-old Good. “I certainly wasn’t expecting it. I got a little bit dizzy, and the next thing you know, I was out. Where I fell, there were apparently two medics right there, and so they were able to put the paddle on me pretty quick and get my heart going again. Just about anywhere else would probably have been the end of me. I was very lucky.”
On July 2, Good had five bypasses and a valve put into his heart in a Montreal hospital. Now recovering at home, he said he is getting better every day. He’s taken a leave of absence from practising law until the end of the year, and then will re-evaluate his future.
Good opened his law practice in 1983 and sold that company to AGB lawyers in 2012.
