GUELPH — The Ontario Federation of Agriculture is making clear it has nothing to do with recent farm-tractor rallies in support Truckers’ Freedom Convoy in Ottawa and Toronto and doesn’t see the protest as the way to lift COVID-19 restrictions.
Coinciding with weekend tractorcades that arrived in both cities, the OFA pointedly reported no involvement in organizing those activities.
The Feb. 5 press release from Ontario’s largest farm organization says it supports the right to peaceful protest and understands rising frustrations with the pandemic. But it believes the return to normal should be achieved by working “with all levels of government, supported by science and health-care professionals.”
