ONTARIO — Ontario’s farm cash receipts continued their upward trajectory in the first three quarters of 2022. The January through September period saw Ontario farm cash receipts hit almost $14.65 billion, up 13.5 % from the same period in 2021, Statistics Canada reports.
Nationally, farm cash receipts were up 13.7 %.
Farm cash receipts includes program payments made to farmers. Ontario farmers’ total was second only to Alberta farmers, who grossed almost $16.29 billion during the first three quarters of 2022, up 24% from 2021.
Ontario’s strong performance through much of 2022 followed last year’s 12.5% growth in year-over-year farm cash receipts (over 2020). Net income also went up 45.5 % for Ontario farmers in 2021.
