GUELPH — OMAFRA is hosting a day of workshops on Jan. 25 for farmers at 1 Stone Rd., Guelph.
Each of the four workshops costs $40 plus tax for members of the Ecological Farmers Association of Ontario, or $60 plus tax for non-members. A one-year membership in EFAO costs $75. Parking is not free, and lunch is not included.
The workshops are:
Advanced Principles of Soil Health
Covers the gamut of factors related to soil health, including crop diversity and water management.
Tools and Systems to Maximize Efficiency
Focused on market gardens and led by market gardeners, it focuses on maximizing efficiency and profitability.
Planning for Climate Resilience on your Farm
Covers a range of different kinds of farms, focusing on what the overall impact of a changing climate will have on farming and how to manage it.
Exploring a Seasonal Migrant Labour Model
With an emphasis on veggie growers, the most common users of the program, it focuses on how to transition a farm to one that relies on seasonal migrant workers, and the ins and outs of making it work.
