GUELPH The Ontario Federation of Agriculture (OFA) wants the province to give farms discount electricity rates and to include that in the 2015 budget. The OFA has asked for a two-to-three cents-per-kilowatt-hour break by removing a portion of the HST charged to farmers on electricity bills. Hydro One the company used by most farmers in Ontario charges 14 cents per kWh (on-peak hours), 11.4 cents per kWh (mid-peak), and 7.7 cents per kWh (off-peak). |
