By Northumberland Federation of Agriculture
The Northumberland Federation of Agriculture (NFA) and its membership will conduct a tractor parade to honour our frontline healthcare workers. On Saturday, April 18, 2020 tractors will gather at 1 PM at the corner of County Road 18 (Burnham Road) and Telephone Road with support from the Town of Cobourg and the Cobourg Police Department. The procession will first drive by the Northumberland Hills Hospital, and then proceed south along Strathy Road and east on Highway 2 to the Golden Plough Lodge. We ask Northumberland farm families to join us by tractor or motor vehicle.
The agricultural community in Northumberland hopes to convey a message of support for all the heroes that continue to work and provide essential services for our loved ones and community. We also wish to share the message to Ontarians of our continued commitment to feed our communities and the world in this incredible time of need.
In order to do our part to flatten the curve, we ask that no one come outside to see this parade, with exception to members of the media, and where it can be done respecting all physical distancing guidelines. It is our hope that families can enjoy once shared virtually by our news networks. We also ask all participants driving equipment and vehicles in the parade, to please stay inside their machines.
NFA represents over 750 farm families and works in partnership with the Ontario Federation of Agriculture (OFA) to be the voice of agriculture in Northumberland County.
