GUELPH Quietly toiling away in the barn and in ag circles to better the Jersey breed could earn one youth a bit of fanfare this March. At its annual general meeting, Jersey Canada will present a youth of distinction award to a Jersey advocate between 18 and 25. Nominations must include a reference letter by a non-family member that describes involvement in Jersey breed activities and agricultural organizations, leadership capability, practical experience, and efforts to improve the breed. Apply by Jan. 31. For an application, go to www.jerseycanada.com and click on youth/young adult under the awards and programs menu. |
