MOREWOOD — Firefighters extinguished a burning milk tanker trailer in Morewood early this morning, Aug. 25.
John Park, owner of the Morewood Luck Mart convenience store, said he was awakened by a “loud, dull sound” around 4 a.m. and looked out his window and saw smoke just south of the village’s main intersection. He heard someone cry “fire” and called 9-1-1 . The involved truck was pulled over on County Rd. 7 with flames emanating from the rear end of the tanker trailer. Park said it looked as if a tire or brake pad had caught fire.
The stainless steel tanker had obvious fire and smoke damage towards the rear end as a crew pumped the milk over into another milk tanker truck around 7 a.m.
