CHESTERVILLE — After a two-year pandemic hiatus, the villages of North Dundas Township resumed their annual street-party tradition this summer. Downtown main streets in Hallville, Morewood, South Mountain, Marionville, Chesterville and Winchester took turns hosting the Wednesday evening gatherings. Hundreds of residents turned out for the special ‘Meet Me on Main Street’ series that featured live music and specially licensed refreshments served up by visiting brewery and distillery vendors. The revellers also enjoyed food from a variety of concessionaires while seated at long rows of tables on the temporarily closed streets. North Dundas established Meet Me on Main Street in 2017 as a Canada 150 celebration — and a country-style take on a high-brow table-and-chairs event the City of Ottawa held outdoors on Wellington Street that year. The North Dundas version always includes a bouncy castle.
