STAFFA — Grain Farmers of Ontario chair Mark Brock says Christmas wouldn’t be the same without this simple stuffing recipe that has been passed down through his family for generations.
“It’s just one of those things that are such a traditional piece of our meal,” he says. “I think we would be at a loss without it at our Christmas meal. I have a bias for it because I’ve been eating it for as long as I can remember.”
Ingredients:
Six cups of soft bread crumbs
3/8 cup of butter
¾ cup of chopped celery
3/8 cup of chopped onions
1 ½ tsp. of salt
1/8 tsp. of pepper
1 ½ tsp. of sage
1 ½ tsp. of poultry dressing
Melt butter. Add the celery and onion. Cook slowly.
Combine the crumbs and seasoning. Mix well.
Pack lightly.
