VANKLEEK HILL — A man is dead after an accident at a livestock exchange east of Ottawa last month.
According to Hawkesbury OPP, an accident occurred at Vankleek Hill Livestock Exchange on July 27. A 55-year old Champlain Township man was taken to hospital where he died on July 28. OPP Sgt. Annie Collins said that the OPP were notified of the accident on July 28, after the man had died. “I don’t think it was seen as a serious accident (initially),” Sgt. Collins said.
According to local truck driver Winston Capron, the man who died was Joe Badger, a local farmer who worked at the exchange on Mondays and Wednesdays. Reportedly, the accident involved a bull.
