Lambton-Kent-Middlesex MP Lianne Rood was named the Conservative agriculture critic last month. She’s taking over the position from Alberta MP John Barlow. She was also deputy ag critic under former party leader Andrew Scheer. Born and raised on a vegetable farm at Grand Bend, she still farms potatoes today in land once farmed by her grandparents. She was also a special assistant to former ag minister Gerry Ritz, and helped develop the bill that ended the Canadian Wheat Board.
