Kawartha Lakes fire destroys barn, 20 cows

WOODVILLE — A Jan. 21 barn fire 20 minutes southwest of Lindsay, in Kawartha Lakes, destroyed 20 cows, five goats, and the barn they were housed in.

The fire at the farm, owned by Joel Van Schaik, broke out just before noon. The three-level, 40-ft.-by-60-ft. barn was totally destroyed. District Fire Chief David Kish said that the barn and animals were insured.
