WINCHESTER — Jaylor, an Ontario-based agricultural feed-mixer manufacturer, has landed a dealership for Eastern Ontario. It will be operated by Jerry and Megan Oude-Egberink, who pressed their first names together to call the business “Mejer Ag.”
It opened in September inside a renovated shop 3 km west of Winchester on County Road 43.
The married couple has years of experience in sales, service, and business management in Alberta. They recently returned to the North Dundas community that’s still home to the dairy farm where Jerry Oude-Egberink grew up and is today operated by his parents and brothers.
Jaylor offers a line of full-size TMR mixers as well as smaller “mini mixers,” all made in the town of Orton.
“Our goal now is to grow our own brand in our own back yard” Jerry says.
At a time of supply-chain woes, sky-high shipping costs and a weak Canadian dollar, there’s much to be said for buying in-province. “And our support and service is all local to Ontario,” he said. “It’s nice to not have to get onto the phone with somebody in a different time zone.”
Mejer Ag sells the Jaylor line in a territory from “almost Kingston” to the Quebec border and plans to hire employees in the near future.
They also carry the line of Renn Mills, Roler and Hammer Mill products, as well as a full line of Chevron Lubricants. They plan an official grand opening coming in the next year.
