HENSALL An upgraded soybean processing plant at the Hensall District Co-operative in Hensall in Huron County will double production to 40 metric tonnes an hour once it is up and running later this month. The plant is just one of the new upgrades at the co-op, which has also added a 110,000 sq. ft. warehouse and six new docks for increased shipping lanes. “You know, you double capacity, you need to get it out the door,” said processing manager Wim Karelse. Most of the soybeans will be sent overseas, with Japan and southeast Asia being the biggest markets. Hensall has more than 4,000 co-op members.
