It’s the third consecutive year that the University of Guelph’s Ontario Veterinary College has ranked fifth worldwide — and first in Canada — for its excellence in veterinary science.
The World University Rankings by Subject are conducted annually by the Quacquarelli Symonds international education network.
The rankings include about 1,300 of the world’s best universities in 51 different academic subjects. They are based on research productivity and impact, academic and employer reputation, and citations per paper.
The veterinary science schools that ranked first to fourth place were the Royal Veterinary College in the UK, the University of California, Davis in the US, Utrecht University in the Netherlands, and Cornell University in the US. After the University of Guelph, the Université de Montréal was the highest ranked Canadian veterinary science school, placing 35th, followed by the University of Calgary in 37th place.
