May 15 marked a global anti-lockdown day and included about 3,000 people who marched through downtown Ottawa, although local media reported as few as 500 participants. Masks were not worn but placards were plentiful. Said one sign: “We are all essential.” Said another: “I’ve read the science.” Lockdown fatigue has swept through rural Ontario as well, as now out-of-work restaurant owners and barbers joined protests in large and small towns. Recent Eastern Ontario protests were held in Cobourg, Kingston, Embrun, Russell, Alexandria, Cornwall, Kemptville, Belleville, and Peterborough. (Nelson Zandbergen photo)
