TORONTO — A four-month-old calf sold for $80,000 at the Sale of Stars at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair on Nov. 9.
Pine-Tree 6809 Fraz 7605, bred by Pine Tree Dairy in Ohio, was purchased by Comfort and Thurler Holsteins at South Mountain, Ont.
Two other animals sold for at least $40,000. Parkhurst Modesty Samarie, bred by Ferme Parkhurst Inc. at St. Patrice de Beaurivage, Que., sold for $57,000 to Pine-Tree Holsteins.
Gillette Modesty Claryfischer, bred by Ferme Gillette Inc. at Embrun, Ont., sold for $40,000 to T-Wave Holsteins in Japan.
The 80 lots averaged $10,384.
