MISSISSIPPI MILLS — More than 80 head of cattle were aboard a transport that rolled over on Pakenham’s 12th Concession yesterday. Four cows died in the crash occurring at 12:55 p.m.
Lanark County OPP say the 59-year-old driver of the truck, who was uninjured, has been charged with an offence under the Highway Traffic Act.
Officers and Mississippi Mills firefighters and numerous local farmers worked together to corral the scattered cattle into a nearby field, keeping them off the roadway. A large animal veterinarian was called in to treat and assess some of the injured cows.
