GUELPH — A former president of both the Beef Farmers of Ontario (BFO) and Canadian Cattlemen’s Association was elected as the interim Eastern Ontario representative on the BFO’s board of directors.
Dan Darling, who runs a 300-head cow-calf operation at Castleton south of Peterborough in Northumberland County, was elected to the position in June. He replaces Garnet Toms, who died from a long-term health condition in May.
BFO bylaws state that a vacancy needs to be filled within 45 days. Darling will serve as the interim director until the BFO’s annual general meeting in February, 2019.
