CHESTERVILLE — Farmer John’s well-known summer party has been postponed until 2023.
Known far beyond the fence lines of North Dundas, Farmer John’s Summer Party has been a hot July highlight of partygoers for 26 years. Crop farmer John Brugmans canned the outdoor bash in 2020 due to COVID restrictions. “But I plan on doing one in 2023,” John Brugmans told Farmers Forum. “I get asked at least five to 10 times a week, through emails and texts, are you going to do another party?”
To better accommodate the parked cars of 1,200 or so expected revellers next year, he plans on planting winter wheat in the fields surrounding his farmhouse this fall.
The event has live entertainment or disc jockey and is known for fireworks, body painting, helicopter rides and parachutists falling from the sky into a pool.
Brugmans said that people come from the U.S. and Toronto for the weekend event.
