PELHAM A farm worker who died in an accident in the Niagara Region is Ontarios second on-farm death of 2015. A 36-year-old man died Jan. 22 when he was struck by a concrete block that was being unloaded off a tractor at White Meadows Farms a maple syrup farm and sugar bush at Pelham near St. Catharines. Police did not release the victims name. According to CHCH television station in Niagara, the man was building a bridge with another employee when the concrete block hit his head. The Ministry of Labour issued 11 compliance orders on the farm. Two orders include protection for workers when moving concrete blocks, as well as having a plan to remove concrete. |
