KEMPTVILLE — A 2015 John Deere tractor sold for almost $100,000 at the Ritchie Bros. auction at Kemptville on April 11.
The 6130M MFWD tractor (used for just 23 hours) sold for $97,000. It was the highest-priced agricultural-related item sold at the auction and was the third highest-selling item overall. A 2015 Mack granite dump truck with 45,854 km sold for $162,500 and a 2014 Caterpillar 4×4 loader backhoe (used for 1,594 hours) sold for $99,000.
One of the most unusual items was a gas-powered golf cart with a hockey helmet in place of the roof to celebrate Canada’s gold medal at the 2014 winter Olympics. That item sold for $2,000.
A total of 737 lots were up for bidding, including 130 agricultural items. There were about 1,450 registered bidders from 22 countries, with more than 800 of them participating online. About one-third of the items were sold to out of province buyers and as far away as Hong Kong, Lebanon and Peru.
