ST. ALBERT — Festival de la Curd organizers at St-Albert, about halfway between Ottawa and Cornwall, expect to give away a hippopotamus’ weight worth of free curds — that’s four tonnes of curds — at this year’s Aug. 16-20 festival.
Some of the activities with an agricultural focus include an antique tractor exhibition, a farmer’s market and a 150-years-of-farming exhibit, retracing 150 years of farm work.
Evening shows — which can cost anywhere from $10 to $30 — include comedians and musicians. There is also an amateur singing competition on Aug. 18 with $3,000 in prizes.
The St-Albert Cheese Factory wine and cheese tasting, giant bingo, youth bingo and a volleyball tournament will raise money for the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario.
Day passes for Aug. 19 and 20 are $8 and kids seven years old and younger are free. An unlimited pass for the four days, including the shows, is $50.
