KILLALOE — Raw milk dairy farmer and cow-share operator Michael Ilgert has vowed to continue distributing raw milk, even after a Toronto appeal board upheld a cease and desist order against him from the Renfrew County Health Unit last December.
The farmer, who has a dairy operation with no quota at Killaloe, west of Renfrew, said that he received a letter in late March from the Toronto appeal board upholding the cease and desist.
“I can’t predict the future but at this point, they have the authority to raid my farm with a search warrant, and take my milking equipment and milk, computer, and so on.
“I’m supposed to stop operating my farm according to their order. But I’m not going to.
“They can come and try and take me on.”
Ilgert’s farm is operating illegally by not owning quota and selling unpasteurized or raw milk. The hearing was Feb. 28.
