Firewood producers had a pretty normal season last fall and prices, as with many things, were all about location.
Many firewood sellers had sold out by the beginning of December, which is not unusual. Most delivered, though not too many would deliver just a single face cord.
Here’s what it cost to get a face cord (or more) delivered:
• Greg Knops (at Spencerville) delivered a minimum of eight face cords for $90 per face cord as far as Kingston, Arnprior and Winchester.
• Dale Ketcheson (at Roslin) delivered a minimum of a bush cord (three face cords) for $350 within a few miles of the home farm.
• Fisher Tree Services (at Munster) delivered a single face cord in a Dino bag anywhere inside the City of Ottawa for $220.
• Wheeler Firewood and Forest (at McDonalds Corners in Lanark County) delivered a minimum of three face cords for $350 within a 60 km radius.
• A&D Firewood (at Almonte) delivered a single face cord for $150 or a full cord (three face cords) for $390 as far as Renfrew.
• Ken’s Firewood (at Gloucester) would deliver a minimum of two face cords for $160 each as far as an hour’s drive away.
