RUSSELL — A Carleton County farmer was killed at dusk in a highway crash last month.
George St-Pierre, 63, was killed after he stopped on Marionville Road, north of Winchester, due to mechanical problems with his tractor, witnesses said.
It was about 8:30 p.m. on May 5, when St.-Pierre got off his farm tractor, and was standing near it in the roadway, police said. He was struck by an approaching car, the driver’s line of sight obscured by a small hill, police said. The car struck St-Pierre and then the tractor before careening off into a ditch. A witness provided first aid until emergency services arrived, but St-Pierre was pronounced dead at the scene.
No charges were laid.
