CRYSLER — The CanWest DHI Conference is coming to Eastern Ontario in 2018, with a doctor of dairy science, a consultant, and dairy farmers sharing their knowledge.
The day-long conference on Jan. 16 will be held at the community centre at 16 Third Street in Crysler. Registration is at 9:30 a.m. and the conference runs to 3 p.m. Cost is $25 per person if registered before Jan. 9 or $35 per person after.
The day kicks off at 10 a.m. with University of Missouri professor Dr. Matt Lucy talking about causes of embryonic loss in dairy animals, how much is normal, and what can be done about it.
Devin Brennan of Ocresco & Associates Inc., will discuss how dairy farmers can make their farms as financially efficient as possible with tools currently available.
Dr. Lucy’s back after lunch sharing insights on improving conception rates and reducing risk in pregnancy.
Wrapping the day up are Jeff and Dylan Stewardson, who run a dairy farm in Lambton County, sharing their management techniques that have their herd among the top managed herds in the country.
