GREELY – The Therapeutic Riding Association of Ottawa-Carleton Inc. was recently surprised to collect a donation of $20,000 from the Central Canada Exhibition Association, which is disbursing remaining funds to worthy agricultural causes.
Since the recent dissolution of the “SuperEx,” former board directors have chosen a variety of recipients in the community. Directors Sandie Harkins and Ashley Lamoureux selected the Therapeutic Riding Association of Ottawa-Carleton (TROtt) as their beneficiary.
At the Oct. 30 cheque handover, Harkins and Lamoureux lauded the organization’s subsidized horseback riding lessons offered to children and adults with disabilities, enhancing the riders’ “quality of life through regular physical exercise and companionship with TROtt’s amazing horses.”
Chairperson Annie Grenon, and other TROtt board members were astounded at the previously undisclosed sum. “COVID-19 has put a financial squeeze on TROtt, just as it has on so many organizations. This donation will help our charity move forward with much-needed therapeutic programs in the community,” said Grenon.
TROtt is always in need of help from the community and urges prospective donors to visit its website at http://ottawatherapeuticriding.ca.
