BROCKVILLE — There’s a new milk processing factory at Brockville that has some farmers raising their eyebrows. That’s because the plant is expected to start processing milk products that Canadian consumers won’t see. The 800,000 sq. ft. plant is expected to produce mostly baby formula that will be shipped to China.
The building at 198 Pearl Street was empty when purchased by Pearl Street Acquisition Inc. for $964,751 in 2014. That company re-sold the plant six months later for $2.97 million to Canadian Milk Manufacturing Inc. That company is owned by businessman Eaton Chen, the Brockville Recorder and Times reported.
The company’s financial manager, Miki Gawel, told Farmers Forum that the plant is expected to start producing its first samples in October and start producing commercially when the samples are approved.
