Canadian tractor sales jumped 42.1 per cent this July compared to July 2019, according to an Association of Equipment Manufacturers’ report. However, this increase is due to the sales decrease in the previous months during COVID-19 shut downs, Farm Credit Canada economist Craig Klemmer said.
The overall year-to-date sales for tractors has only increased 5.3 per cent compared to 2019. Most of the increase is seen in the purchases of smaller tractors under 40 horse power. Sales of larger tractors, especially over 100 horse power, are down by 21 per cent compared to the 2019 sale numbers.
